Fees & Rebates
Medicare
Kate is a registered Medicare provider. Medicare provides a rebate of $141.85 per session for clients of clinical psychologists who are referred by their GP, a psychiatrist or a paediatrician for treatment of a mental health disorder. To claim this rebate, clients require a referral letter plus a Mental Health Care Plan from their GP, or a referral letter from their psychiatrist or paediatrician.
With a Mental Health Care Plan, clients are eligible for up to 10 sessions with Medicare rebates per calendar year.
Private Insurance
Private clients (clients who self refer) are eligible for rebates for psychological services under most private health funds.
Note: clients can claim either the Medicare rebate if they have a Mental Health Care Plan from a GP, or a rebate from their private health fund. Clients are unable to claim both.
Workers Compensation and Motor Vehicle Claims
Psychological services provided under Workers Compensation and Motor Vehicle Accident Claims are fully funded by the insurance provider. Please discuss payment of psychology services fees for workers compensation and motor vehicle accident claims with the insurance provider.
Fees – Psychological Assessment and Therapy Sessions
1. Standard consultation fee: $270.00 (50+ minute session)
2. Trauma processing sessions using EMDR can be longer (up to 90 minutes) than a standard consultation and the fee is adjusted accordingly.
Note: The Australian Psychological Society National Schedule of Recommended Fees for a standard 50+ minute consultation with a registered psychologist is $311.00.
Cancellation Fees
In accordance with guidelines provided by the Australian Psychological Society, at least 48 hours notice of non-attendance is required. This is essential so that clients on a waiting list can be offered an appointment and so that your treating psychologist can make the best use of clinic time. A cancellation fee of 50% of the full fee will be charged where less than 48 hours notice of non-attendance is provided. A cancellation fee of 100% of the full fee will be charged where less than 24 hours notice of non-attendance is provided. Medicare Rebates are not available for cancellation fees.
Legal
